Mathilda Bridge Reconstruction
The purpose of the Downtown Mathilda Bridge Project is to: a) Provide standard lane, shoulder widths, and ramps; b) Improve curbs and sidewalks to meet ADA requirements; and c) Eliminate the existing bridge’s “Functional Obsolete” rating.
The project will provide the following functional improvements: Off Ramp access to East and West bound Evelyn Avenue; Charles Avenue Cul-de-Sac, new pedestrian ramps, new traffic signals at California and Mathilda and SB off ramp and Evelyn.
The project is tentatively scheduled to be completed by January 2012, weather permitting.

Solstice (formerly Town & Country) starts Construction
BRE started construction on Solstice, which will be a mixed use project with 280 residential units and approximately 34,000 square feet of ground floor retail. The project area is known as Block A and B and is surrounded by Aries Way; West Washington Ave; Frances Ave and Olson Way (formerly known as Capella Way).
Current project phase includes excavation at Block A and B and removal of dirt. Construction activities will necessitate the closure of Taaffe St. between Olson Way and Washington Ave. The closure will be in effect from 12/12/11 – 1/6/13. Street closure hours will be:
7 am – 4 pm; Monday to Friday
8 am – 5 pm on Saturdays

Sunnyvale Avenue Streetscape Improvements
The Sunnyvale Avenue streetscape project will include improvements to several sections of the street. The following improvements will be made:
The project is tentatively scheduled to begin in January 2012. It is anticipated that the project will take approximately six months.
- Sidewalk widening
- Tree installation
- Street lighting
- Street furniture
- New curbs and gutters with minor drainage modifications
- Signing and striping
- 35 new curb ramps
