Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
1. What is a Wine Stroll?
It's an event where attendees enjoy wine and food samples from participating restaurants and retailers all within walking distance of each other. For this event, we will feature 20 businesses (we like to call them "host locations") and 20 local wineries in downtown Sunnyvale. Aside from the actual "host location" staff being present, winery representatives will be at each host location giving sample tastings and answering any questions you may have about their particular wines, vineyard, facilities, etc. We know how some of you wine connoisseurs can be! :-)
2. Why are you calling it "The Magic of Sunnyvale Wine & Food Stroll"?
There are many cities that have wine strolls; what makes "The Magic of Sunnyvale's" Stroll unique is that it also features the largest outdoor assemblance of magicians at one event in the entire bay area! As attendees stroll from "host location" to "host location" they will be entertained by some of the best professional magicians California has to offer. Some magicians will be obvious . . ., on the sidewalk, in front of a table, asking you to pick a card, etc. Without giving away all of their trade secrets, many of the magicians will be incognito/undercover. Let's just say things will be happening throughout the stroll and you will be asking yourself, "Was that magic or was that a coincidence!?" hmmmm.....
3. When and where is the stroll being held?
Where: Downtown Sunnyvale, California; When: 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, May 12; Check-in starts at 1:30 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce, 260 S. Sunnyvale Avenue, Sunnyvale; Cost: $25 per person in advance or $35 on the day of the event; Tickets available in advance at Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce, Sunnyvale Avenue and at participating businesses.
4. Where can I buy my tickets?
Tickets are available during normal business hours at the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce, 260 S. Sunnyvale Avenue (across the street from Macy's Department Store) as well as the following participating "host location" businesses:.
TBA
5. What happens if you run out of wine?
Tickets for the stroll are limited to 1000 tickets. Each attendee is guaranteed at least 20, 1 oz sample pours. We strongly recommend you get your tickets in advance as once all 1000 tickets are sold it will be sold out! You'd think with all of the magicians in attendance you could get someone to conjure up some extra tickets and an extra bottle or two out of a hat but we already put that "no, no" stipulation" in their contract . . sorry.
6. Is this the same as the Art & Wine Festival?
No. The Art & Wine Festival is a huge 2-day (June 2nd & 3rd), outdoor festival that emphasizes artisans. The Magic of Sunnyvale Wine & Food Stroll features the local businesses and local wineries. Although you stroll outside from location to location, all of the wine tasting (and food tasting depending on whether the location is a restaurant or not) takes place only inside of the "host location".
7. How much strolling/walking is involved? Is this event wheelchair accessible?
For this year's event, all of the businesses/host locations are on or around the 100 block of South Murphy Avenue. All businesses are ADA compliant. You can also download a 3D map at http://www.sunnyvaledowntown.com/directory.html.
8. My cousin's girlfriend knows some magic tricks - how can she get involved?
Er uh .. . hmmmmmm, I'm sure she must be great at your family get-together's, but we have already commandeered some of the best magi's (as they like to call themselves) in California for this event, including Hollywood's Magic Castle member, Steve Silverman, who is coming up from L.A. for this event. For a list of some of the Magicians and their websites go to: http://www/.sunnyvaledowntown.com/wine-food-stroll.html. However, feel free to invite your cousin's girlfriend, as I 'm sure she can learn a new trick or two to add to her repertoire.
8. I have another question that wasn't listed, who can I contact to answer my question(s)?
